Adjusting flame height
To adjust the flame height on your appliance open the control panel and locate your main gas valve. If the valve has a dial marked “High-Low”, rotating the dial will adjust your flame height. If your main gas valve does not have the adjustment dial, it may be due to the type of remote control that’s installed on your appliance.

Cold Start-up
Whether you use a Remote Control system or a Wall Switch to operate your Electronic Ignition appliance, it is possible that on colder or damp days your electronic ignition will take a few tries to get going. This is perfectly normal, and not a defect. This is due to the heavier air inside your firebox and venting systems when cold or damp. The absence of a pilot light means there are no other means to generate initial draft until the appliance is running. It is important to note this effect is completely environmental and normal.

DC Spark Box Battery Replacement
The unit may contain a DC spark box. The battery will need to be replaced over time.

  1. 1) Locate the DC spark box – see owner’s manual for location.
  2. Remove battery cover from DC spark box.
  3. Remove old battery and replace with a new one.
  4. Replace battery cover and reinstall DC spark box.

Direct Vent technology
You don’t need a standard chimney to vent your gas appliance. With Direct Vent technology, all you need is an outside wall or unobstructed access to the roof. Gas vent pipe can be easily installed into existing homes at minimal cost. So if you want a fireplace or stove in your bedroom, your kitchen, or even your bathroom, we can make it happen!

Fan Maintenance
Fan bearings do not require lubrication. Clean the fan twice a season with a soft brush or a vacuum with a crevice or dusting attachment.

First Fire
The first fire in your heater is part of the paint curing process. To ensure the paint is properly cured, it is recommended you burn your fireplace for at least four (4) hours the first time. When first operated, the unit will release an odor caused by the curing of the paint and the burning off of any oils remaining from manufacturing. Smoke detectors in the house may go off at this time. Open a few windows to ventilate the room for a couple of hours. A film can build up on the glass upon your initial break-in of the unit. This is normal, resulting from the curing process of the paint and logs. The glass should be cleaned after the first 4 to 6 hours of initial burning to remove these deposits before they bake on. The glass may require cleaning.

NOTE: When the glass is cold and the appliance is lit, it may cause condensation and fog the glass. This condensation is normal and will disappear in a few minutes as the glass heats up. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE GLASS WHILE IT IS STILL HOT! DO NOT BURN THE UNIT WITHOUT THE GLASS DOOR IN PLACE.

General Maintenance
– Always turn off the gas valve before cleaning. For relighting, refer to lighting instructions. Keep the burner and control compartment clean by brushing and vacuuming at least once a year.
– Clean the appliance and door with a damp cloth (never when unit is hot). Never use an abrasive cleaner. The glass should be cleaned with a gas fireplace glass cleaner. The glass should be cleaned when it starts looking cloudy.
– The faceplates & fireboxes are finished in a heat resistant paint and should only be refinished with heat resistant paint. Note: Faceplates and inner panels made from stainless steel will naturally change color over time.
– Make a periodic check of burner for proper position and condition. Visually check the flame of the burner periodically, making sure the flames are steady; not lifting or floating. If there is a problem, call a qualified Regency service person / dealer.
– The appliance and venting system must be inspected before use, and at least annually, by a qualified field service person, to ensure that the flow of combustion and ventilation air is not obstructed. Note: Never operate the appliance without the glass properly secured in place.
– Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified Regency service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
– In the event this appliance has been serviced check that the vent-air system has been properly resealed & reinstalled in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
– Verify operation after servicing.

Glass Replacement
In the event that you break your glass by impact, purchase your replacement from an authorized dealer only. Replacement glass is shipped with gasket installed.

Glass Door
A white film can build up on the inside of the glass after the initial break-in of the unit. It is caused by water vapor mixing with by-products of combustion. This mixture forms inside the firebox and will quickly condense under certain conditions on the coolest spot in the firebox which is typically the glass front. The condensation forms a white film on the glass when it dries out. It is acidic and will etch into the glass permanently if not cleaned off soon after it forms.
If your glass requires cleaning, we recommend using an approved glass cleaner available at all authorized Regency dealers. Do not use abrasive materials.

Cleaning residue from the glass (exterior surface)
If your glass requires cleaning, we recommend using an approved glass cleaner available at authorized dealers.
1) Warm up the glass slightly
2) Use a foam glass cleaner (not Windex type) or Kel Kem glass cleaner (available from your local fireplace store)
3) Use a razor (use with caution, keep the blade on a angle ) or rub it off. Always keep the glass wet with cleaner while you scrape the glass.

– Do not clean when the glass is hot.
– The use of substitute glass will void all product warranties.
– Care must be taken to avoid breakage of the glass.
– Do not strike or abuse the glass.
– Do not operate this fireplace without the glass front or with a cracked or broken glass front.
– Wear gloves when removing damaged or broken glass.
– Replacement of the glass panel(s) should be done by a licensed or qualified service person.

Lighting Procedure
NOTE: The Gas ON/OFF knob cannot be turned from “ON”, “PILOT” or “OFF” unless it is partially depressed.
1) Ensure the wall mounted switch or remote is in the “OFF” position.
2) Turn the gas control knob so the indicator points to the “OFF” position and wait 5 minutes for any gas in the combustion chamber to escape.
3) Turn the gas control knob counterclockwise so the indicator points to the “PILOT” position. Depress the gas control knob fully. Depress the igniter button until the pilot lights. After approximately one minute, release the gas control knob. The pilot flame should continue to burn.
4) Only when the pilot holds, without pressure being applied to the gas control knob, re-install the glass door to the unit. The unit must not be operated without the glass door in place.
5) If the pilot does not remain lit, repeat operation allowing a longer period before releasing gas control knob.
6) When the pilot stays lit, turn the gas control knob to the “ON” position.
7) Use the wall switch or remote control to turn the unit ON.
NOTE: When using the remote control refer to the remote manual.

Log Replacement
The unit should never be used with broken logs. Turn off the gas valve and allow the unit to cool before opening door and carefully remove the logs. (The pilot light generates enough heat to burn someone.) If for any reason a log should need replacement, you must use the proper replacement log. The position of these logs must be as shown in the diagrams under Log Installation. Note: Improper positioning of logs may create carbon build-up and will severely alter the unit’s performance which is not covered under warranty.

Normal Operating Sounds of Gas Appliances
It is possible that you will hear some sounds from your gas appliance. This is perfectly normal due to the fact that there are various gauges and types of steel used within your appliance. Listed below are some examples. All are normal operating sounds and should not be considered as defects in your appliance.
Burner Tray:
The burner tray is positioned directly under the burner and is made of a different gauge material from the rest of the firebox and body. Therefore, the varying thicknesses of steel will expand and contract at slightly different rates which can cause “ticking” and “cracking” sounds. You should also be aware that as there are temperature changes within the unit these sounds will likely re-occur. Again, this is normal for steel fireboxes.
Pilot Flame:
While the pilot flame is on it can make a very slight “whisper” sound.
Gas Control Valve:
As the gas control valve turns ON and OFF, a dull clicking sound may be audible, this is normal operation of a gas regulator or valve.
Unit Body/Firebox:
Different types and thicknesses of steel will expand and contract at different rates resulting in some “cracking” and “ticking” sounds will be heard throughout the cycling process.

Plated Finishes
The optional plated finishes on the louvers and surrounds requires little maintenance and needs only to be cleaned with a damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasive materials or chemical cleaners, as they may harm the finish and void the warranty. Keep doors and louvers off during construction to avoid damage.
